A lot of films lump all single women into one large homegenous group. But women have many different reasons to be "spinsters". Some are single by choice, some wish they could find their "Mr Darcy." Others are relieved to be divorced, and some are also single parents.
Our characters have been written to represent the many variations of singledom and celebrate them all.
LISSIE, 32.
A human rights lawyer and hyper-independent city girl.
Coming from a rocky homelife, she’s spent her twenties focused on building a stable career and avoiding heartbreak. A toxic relationship ended up costing Lissie her best friend, Nat, two years prior, and she hasn’t been able to repair it. She is attempting to “get back out” into dating when the cervical cancer diagnosis lands and rearranges her priorities. Lissie is afraid she will die without having known a great love but, more than that, she has the sinking feeling that letting her friendships drift might be the biggest regret of her life. She wants to reconnect but can’t face telling them she is sick.
BETTY, 32.
Original girl boss now divorcée.
After hitting the Forbes 30 Under 30 List, having a dream office in Shoreditch, and the perfect marriage in the perfect home, Betty had an affair with a junior member of staff, has been fired from her own company, publicly humiliated, and is living back at her parents’. In the midst of this full-blown identity crisis, she’s overjoyed to receive an unexpected invite to Lissie’s for NYE. NAT, 32.
Olympic-athlete turned famous life coach.

Single parenting is not without huge challenges, and Kate wishes she had a bigger support network around her, but she’s happy! She thinks often about reaching out to her oldest friends who are living it up in the city with big successful careers, but doesn’t feel like she has anything to offer.
